Think some schools are backward? Ours is inside out.

Jabiru’s curriculum is different from a traditional school. We deliver a personalised learning design called Big Picture Learning Design, which takes an inside-out approach. Instead of starting with a standard curriculum and tailoring it to the learner, we start with the learner and tailor the curriculum to fit. We’re the only high school in Brisbane that teaches this way.

School created around you.

At Jabiru, we find out what you’re into, then work with you to shape your learning around it. Through real projects, personalised support and genuine relationships, you can learn in a way that feels more meaningful, more practical and more like your own.

Project Showcase: Ancient Mythology

A deep dive into the mythology of an ancient civilisation known as the Canaanites turned a passion for history into a self-published book.

Academic skills like empirical research, scientific illustration and critical reasoning worked hand-in-hand with practical skills like advanced word processing, collaborating with experts, and manual book-binding.

Graduate on your terms.

Here at Jabiru, we’re big on self-determination, and our learning design is flexible enough to accommodate different goals. If you like, you can work towards achieving Big Picture qualifications, The Gateway Certificate and/or the International Big Picture Learning Credential (IBPLC). The IBPLC allows you to finish your senior years in the Big Picture Learning way, and then move on to further training, work or uni. The credential is accepted by 21 different universities around Australia, including Griffith University.

You can also choose to complete your QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education) or Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). But if you don’t want to do either, that’s fine too. Many of our young people graduate without a QCE, and go on to TAFE, uni, apprenticeships, straight into work or wherever life takes them.
