School created around you

Welcome to Jabiru Community College.
We’re the school for when you don’t like school – an NSSAB accredited, independent alternative for Years 10, 11 & 12. Our class sizes are intentionally small and our young person-to-staff ratios are intentionally high. Here at Jabiru, personalised learning is a staple, not a side note.
We learn on Turrbal Country.
At Jabiru, young people aren’t just leaders for the future. They lead right now. Join our young people as they lead us in an Acknowledgement of Country. This video is their voice and their tribute to the continuous connection of the Turrbal people to the lands where we work, learn and grow.

Take a look around.
We make our home in Zillmere on the north side of Brisbane, and we’d love to show you our space.
Unlearn everything you know about school.
The traditional, mass produced approach to school is designed to make teaching more efficient. Not to make learning more enjoyable.
So here at Jabiru, we’ve flipped the script. Instead of forcing you to fit into us, we help you find learning that belongs to you.
Where the only subject is you.
Our unique approach to education is called Big Picture Learning Design, and we’re the only high school in Brisbane that offers it.
Top-line? We find out what you’re into, and work with you to create projects based on your interests. This way, you can tick all your learning boxes while doing what you love.
Five days at a flexible school.
Jabiru is a five-day-a-week secondary school, but our days are much more flexible than what you might be used to. Each young person has their own learning plan, based on their unique projects. You’ll usually spend most of your time on campus and some of it at a work placement.

You’re right where you need to be.
Before anything else – even before coffee! – we want each person who walks through our door to feel like they belong. Whoever you are, whatever your story, you’ll find a home here.
