A genuinely flexible School.
Does school make you feel like you don’t fit the mould? We get it. At Jabiru, there’s no standardised system for you to ‘fit in’ to, because there’s no standardised anything! We celebrate the diversity that makes each of us unique and mould our curriculum to fit you.

You could teach us a thing or two.
Your individuality sits at the core of our Big Picture Learning Design. We’re a small school with around 100 young people, which gives us the chance to really get to know you. When you begin at Jabiru, we take the time to understand your interests, challenges, strengths and ambitions, and work alongside you to build a learning journey that’s yours alone.

Project Showcase: IT Expertise
A passion for computers turned into a real-world set of IT skills, ranging from hardware diagnostics to the complex task of building and configuring complete IT systems.
Complementing these technical skills was a wonderful growth in confidence, problem-solving, leadership and communication.

Flexibility is our superpower.
Each young person at Jabiru works on their own personalised projects, which means they also have an individual timetable. This is what makes us a genuinely flexible school.
Forget the 45 minute periods, shuffling between buildings… and there’s definitely no bell! You have one classroom with one teacher and youth worker, where you set up your own learning space to work on your projects. Most of your learning will happen here, although from time to time you’ll use specialised spaces like the art room, music studio or maker’s space.
Prefer a beanbag to a desk? Be our guest. Want to get out of the classroom for a mini-break? Sure. Need a cuddle with Milly the therapy dog before you start work? Well, she’s always up for that.
We’re also big on workplace learning, so most young people will spend some of their week out at a real-world work placement, with the aim of getting up to 2 days a week by Year 12.
