Support our work Volunteer with us Volunteer @ JCC How can volunteers help at the college? The College would greatly appreciate help in the following areas: Makerspace Volunteers Our maker-space volunteers have all soughts of skills they share - woodwork, sewing, pottery, art, collage, drawing/painting, electronics, robotics, bike maintenance and general handy-persons skills to name a few. You'll spend time helping our students to develop some of these skills themselves and helping to keep the makerspace safe and clean. Goodies 'n' Grind Cafe & Kitchen Volunteers Our Goodies 'n' Grind Cafe is a great place to share food and conversation - and in the process share some invaluable life skills. We'd love some help keeping the Cafe in order, assisting our students to cook safely, and lending a hand with the clean up at the end of the day. Learning Tutors For all sorts of reasons, many of our students have missed big chunks of school. One-on-one assistance to catch-up with elements of numeracy and literacy and help build more confidence to tackle more difficult learning challenges. We currently have two retired teachers who donate their time, but would welcome many more volunteers to offer more one-on-one time with students. What are the requirements? Our roles require for you to hold a Working with Children (Blue) card. We can help you apply for this if you don't already have one. What skills are needed? All you need is time and patience. Some other qualities that will help are the capacity to listen and communicate clearly, team work, empathy and problem solving skills. What is the time commitment? That is entirely up to you. We work with your time availability. I'd like to Volunteer, what do I do now? Call the College on 3554 1799 to arrange a time to visit and meet with one of the Co-PriIncipals to talk about volunteering with us.
